Meet Laura Bell Bundy As Elle Woods

Laura Bell Bundy was born on April 10, 1981. Her hometown of Lexington, Kentucky is where she spent of her childhood years taking part in theatre and musical events. At the young age of nine, Bundy made her on-stage debut in the Off -Broadway show Ruthless! The Musical. For her sucessful role in this productionn, in 1993 she was nomintated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical. Many may not know that her understudies during this time were pop-star Britney Spears and actress Natalie Portman.

Bundy's Broadway debut occurred in 2002 in the award-winnning musical, Hairspray. During this play, she grasped the role of Amber Von Tussle. She's also served as understudies for Kristin Chenoweth and Jennifer Laura Thompson for the role of Glinda in Wicked. Currently, she still plays Elle Woods in Legally Blonde: The Musical. She was considered for the role after producers were introduced to her through former Hairspray cast member Kerry Butler. For her excellent performance and undeniable talent, Bundy won her first Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Musical.

Outside of Broadway, Bundy has many other movie and TV roles listed on her repetoire. Some of them include roles in The Sound of Musica, Rock of Ages, The Adventures of Huck and Finn, Life with Mikey, Jumanji, Dreamgirls, The Guiding Light, Veronica Mars, Happy Hour, Modern Men, Cold Case, Strangers with Candy and many more!

Aside from her role in Legally Blonde, Bundy also found time to record and release her debut country album entitled Longing For a Place Already Gone.
